16 February 2022 - GR.iD has launched an amazing race-inspired “GR.iD Arena” hybrid game tournament within its space at 1 Selegie Road. Held from now until 30 April 2022, GR.iD Arena offers attractive prizes - including Nintendo Lite, Apple Airpods, Korean food hamper, and discount vouchers - for its Top 10 winners.

Teaming up with award-winning brand consultancy 8traordinary and homegrown gaming startup Storms, GR.iD adds a twist to GR.iD Arena by getting visitors to find the hidden QR codes within GR.iD to access the online games and collect the highest number of stars possible from each game to top the overall leaderboard and earn the prizes.

Diane Aw, Director - Asset Management, Gaw Capital, said:

“As the new meeting place in town, GR.iD is excited to put a new entertaining spin on retail and change the way shoppers interact and connect in a retail space. Going beyond just transactions, the game engages and rewards shoppers through placemaking experiences by bridging the virtual and physical journey. We are excited to collaborate with the young local team at Storms to bring this to life.”

Jeffrey Lim, Managing Director, 8traordinary, added:

“Malls are evolving into experiential spaces where people come to be entertained. Furthermore, as Singapore transitions towards endemic living, more consumers will be going out of their homes. This led us to launch GR.iD Arena - an O2O solution to help visitors reconnect as they are engaged in fun, competitive activities down at GR.iD’s physical space.”

Entering the GR.iD Arena

There are eight QR codes that are hidden within GR.iD’s physical space. Players have to find and scan them to play the games, which range from arcade, puzzle, to racing genres.

To make GR.iD Arena more exciting, players can steal other players' points by beating their ranks. Sharing her tips on how players can win in the game tournament, Tanu Gulati, Vice President of Strategy at Storms, said:

“The whole experience requires a game plan. Players may hunt for the eight QR codes to get access to all the games and earn the highest number of accumulative stars. Alternatively, players may also master a game and top its leaderboard to get the highest number of stars possible from the game that they can master. Combining both approaches to maximise their chances of winning is also a tactic worth considering.”
